Our name puts a promise on every listing, so here is what stands behind it. Authentic Gems sells natural loose gemstones and nothing else. Each stone is looked over by us before it goes on the site, any treatment we know about is written on the listing, and you can ask for a certificate of authenticity with any stone you buy. If a stone turns out to be different from its description, you have 7 days from delivery to send it back.
The rest of this page sets out what those promises mean day to day, and just as plainly, the things we do not claim.
A Single Stone on Every Listing, Photographed as It Is
Each product page on authenticgems.pk is one stone. Not a lot, not a "similar piece", not a stock photo. We photograph the stone itself, record its carat weight and price it on its own. The stone in those pictures is the one we pack for you. Natural gems have small inclusions and slight shifts of colour, and we would rather you see them on your screen than discover them at your door.
What We Check Before a Stone Is Listed
Every stone passes through our hands in Karachi before it is photographed. We look at the points a buyer actually cares about:
- Colour - the hue, how light or dark it is, and whether it is even or patchy across the stone
- Clarity - inclusions you can see, fractures, and any surface damage
- Cut and finish - how symmetrical it is, the quality of the polish, and any chips on the edges
- Weight - the exact carat figure, because the price rests on it
If a stone is glass, lab-grown, or simply not what it was offered to us as, it does not get listed. Full stop.
Treatments, Stated Up Front
A lot of fine gemstones are enhanced as a matter of routine, and the trade has accepted this for generations. Yaqoot (ruby) and neelam (sapphire) are often heated to improve colour and clarity. Zamurd (emerald) is traditionally oiled so that fine fissures reaching the surface show less. When we know a stone has been treated, its listing tells you. We will not sell a treated stone as untreated, whatever the stone.
Certificates and Outside Testing
For any stone you buy, you can ask for an Authentic Gems certificate of authenticity. If you would like an opinion from someone with no stake in the sale, independent laboratory testing can be arranged on request as well. Message us before ordering and we will tell you how that would work for the stone you have in mind.
Prices You Can Work Out Yourself
Every stone carries its own price, and the per-carat rate is just that price divided by the carat weight. With that one figure you can line up two stones of the same kind and compare them fairly, even when their weights differ.
See the Stone Before Any Money Changes Hands
We send stones across Pakistan by insured, tracked courier, with Cash on Delivery. When the rider arrives, open the parcel, check the stone against its photos, and only then pay. Even after you have paid, our 7-day return policy covers a stone that is not as described. Delivery times and charges are on the shipping page.
The Limits of What We Promise
We only say what we can stand behind. We do not trace stones back to a particular mine, and we do not offer lifetime guarantees or buy-back schemes. What you get is a careful inspection, an honest description and a clear return window. If you have a question about a particular stone, ask us before you buy and we will give you a straight answer.
Guarantee card, certificate or lab report?
People often use these words as if they mean the same thing. They don't. Each one tells you who is vouching for the stone, and on what basis.
Authentic Gems guarantee card
The guarantee card is our written word as the seller. It says the stone is natural, that it matches its listing, and that our 7-day return policy applies to it. It notes the variety and carat weight so the card can be matched to the stone in your hand. Think of it as a promise backed by the return window, not as a test result.
In-house certificate
You can ask for an Authentic Gems certificate of authenticity with any stone you buy. It records what we found on inspection: variety, weight, measurements, colour and any treatment we are aware of, for example heating in a ruby or sapphire, or oiling in an emerald. It is a careful written record, but it comes from the shop that sold the stone.
Independent lab report
A lab report is issued by a gemmological laboratory that plays no part in the sale. The lab examines the stone with instruments and states what it is, whether it is natural or synthetic, and which treatments it can detect. Some labs add an opinion on origin. Independent testing can be arranged on request for any stone, and you see the report before you pay.
Which one do you need?
- Everyday stones such as amethyst, aqeeq or moonstone: the guarantee card together with the 7-day return window is normally enough.
- A gift, or a stone for the family records: ask for the in-house certificate.
- Higher-value stones such as pukhraj, neelam, yaqoot, zamurd or marjan: ask for an independent lab report before you pay.
To ask for a certificate or a lab report, send us the stone's link on WhatsApp or through our contact page. The longer guide is on our lab-certified gemstones page.
