Stones by purpose
Choosing a Gemstone by Purpose and Intention مقصد کے مطابق پتھر
In short: Many people in Pakistan pick a gemstone for what tradition says it supports: protection, confidence, love, calm, prosperity or faith. Those associations come from Vedic astrology, Persian and Islamic custom, and everyday folk belief. They are beliefs rather than results, so begin with your intention and then narrow the choice by colour and budget.

Traditional belief vs gemmology: anything on this page about luck, protection, planets, healing or religious tradition describes traditional and cultural beliefs — not proven effects, religious rulings or medical advice. A stone's identity, hardness, treatment and origin are gemmology, which a lab can test; the references at the end of the page cover that side.
Three traditions, one household
In most Pakistani homes, three ways of thinking about stones sit side by side. Vedic astrology pairs each of the nine planets with a stone, Pukhraj for Jupiter or Yaqoot for the Sun for example, and an astrologer chooses one by reading a birth chart. Persian and Islamic custom holds Aqeeq, Feroza and Dur-e-Najaf in special regard; they are worn as rings, frequently engraved, and valued for their links with revered people and places. Folk belief covers the rest: black stones to ward off nazar, green ones for business, white ones for a settled mind.
Six intentions to start from
- Protection: Aqeeq, black agate, Sulemani and Lehsunia, worn against the evil eye.
- Confidence and success: Yaqoot, Marjan and tiger eye.
- Love and harmony: opal, white topaz, Moti and moonstone.
- Calm and focus: Moti, Jamunia, Beruj and Zamurd.
- Wealth and prosperity: Pukhraj, Zamurd and Sunehla.
- Spiritual: Aqeeq, Dur-e-Najaf, Moh-e-Najaf and Feroza.
An honest word first
A gemstone will not change your health, your income or your relationships, and you will never hear us claim it will. Vedic tradition also cautions that certain stones, Neelam above all, should only be worn on proper advice, which is why many families check with their own astrologer before buying. Religious questions are best taken to your own scholar. What we can stand behind is the stone itself: natural, with any known treatment disclosed, and a certificate if you ask for one.
Narrowing it down
Begin with the intention, then filter by colour and budget. Favourites such as Aqeeq, Pukhraj and Moti come in a wide range of qualities, and for a first stone our lowest budget filter is a good place to begin. Pay Cash on Delivery: open the parcel, check the stone, then pay the rider.
