What a lab looks at in peridot
- Identity: peridot has strong double refraction, and the lab measures it. That separates it from green glass, tourmaline and green sapphire.
- Lab-grown material: synthetic forsterite does exist, though it is uncommon; spectroscopy is used to check.
- Filled cracks: oil or resin in fractures is rare in peridot, but it is recorded if found.
- Origin: some labs will give an origin opinion, which matters if you specifically want Pakistani peridot.
Asking for a report
Choose a stone from our peridot collection and message us its link on WhatsApp. We will explain how that particular stone would be tested, and the report reaches you before you pay a rupee. You can do the same with emerald, tourmaline and green agate. There is more on our lab-certified gemstones page.
