What a lab looks for in Pukhraj
- Identity: telling yellow sapphire apart from yellow topaz, citrine and glass, all of which turn up in the market labelled as Pukhraj.
- Heating: extremely common in yellow sapphire, and picked up from the inclusions and from instrument readings.
- Beryllium diffusion: a process that turns pale stones a strong yellow or orange, which only advanced testing can reveal.
- Synthetics: flame-fusion yellow corundum gives itself away with curved growth lines under magnification.
Asking for a report
Choose a stone from our Pukhraj collection and message us its link on WhatsApp. We will walk you through the testing steps for that stone, and the report is in your hands before you pay. You can do the same with blue sapphire, citrine and yellow agate. More on lab-certified gemstones.
