What a lab looks for in red coral
- Natural colour or dye: spectroscopy recognises coral's natural pigment, and dyed coral, dyed sponge coral included, is flagged on the report.
- Filling and coating: wax, resin or polymer pushed into the pores to add shine.
- Reconstituted coral: coral dust bonded together with resin, which has none of the natural growth structure.
- Imitations: glass, plastic, and dyed bone or shell.
Asking for a report
Choose a stone from our red coral collection and message us its link on WhatsApp. We will go through the testing steps for that stone with you, and you see the report before you pay. The same applies to ruby, red agate and pearl. More on lab-certified gemstones.
