About this stone
Everything we know about it
Description
This 23.50 carat labradorite shows a vivid blue flash. Here are the questions people usually ask us about a stone like it.
How can I tell if the flash is good?
Hold it under one light and rotate it slowly. A good stone lights up across a large part of its face, then goes dark and returns. Blue is the most common flash colour, and the more of the dome it covers, the better the stone looks when worn.
Will it survive daily wear?
At 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale it is fine as a pendant and acceptable in a ring worn with some care. Keep it away from harder stones in the same pouch, since they will scratch it. Wipe it with a soft damp cloth and dry it.
Has it been treated?
Labradorite is rarely altered in the trade, but we would rather you ask than assume. Message us on WhatsApp quoting GSN-LB-10 and we will share what we know. Independent lab testing is your choice.
How does it compare?
Its rate per carat is in line with the other large labradorites, and the labradorite page lets you compare it with its neighbours.
How do I pay?
Cash on Delivery, after you have opened the parcel and seen the stone. Karachi usually takes 1 to 2 working days, other cities 2 to 4, and unused stones can be returned within 7 days. Before you choose, read our labradorite guide.
This particular stone
This listing is one natural labradorite with a weight of 23.5 Carat. Its price is Rs. 3,830 — roughly Rs. 163 for each carat. Treatment: treatment not tested. Quote reference GSN-LB-10 when you message us about it. The photographs show this exact stone, so what arrives at your door is the piece you chose on screen.
Above twelve carats you are into collector territory. Pieces this heavy are usually set as pendants or kept loose, and they are prized for the size of rough they came from. If you do set it, choose a bezel or a heavy claw to protect the edges.
On the Mohs scale labradorite rates 6 to 6.5. That is middle-of-the-road hardness: comfortable in pendants and earrings, and in rings worn with some care. Store it apart from harder stones so it does not pick up scratches, and wipe it with a damp cloth rather than scrubbing.
Whoever you buy labradorite from, make sure of three things: the stone is natural rather than lab-grown, glass or glass-filled; any treatment is stated in writing; and the weight quoted is the weight of the finished stone. We check every labradorite for those three points before it is listed, and because you pay on delivery you can look at the stone — or have it tested — before any money changes hands.
