What a lab looks for in kunzite
- Identity: kunzite, which is pink spodumene, as opposed to morganite, pink topaz, amethyst or pink glass.
- Irradiation and heat: used to deepen or shift the colour. Treated colour can fade in strong light, which is good to know before you buy.
- Synthetics and glass: separated using refractive index, density and kunzite's strong pleochroism, the way its colour changes with viewing angle.
- Weight and measurements: recorded so the report matches your stone and no other.
Getting a report
Choose a stone from our kunzite collection and message us its link on WhatsApp. We'll explain how testing would work for that stone, and you see the report before you pay. You can do the same with amethyst, tourmaline and purple sapphire. More on our lab-certified gemstones page.
