About this stone
Everything we know about it
Description
For many sapphire rings, two carats is the sweet spot, and this 2.10 carat Ceylon neelam falls right there. It is big enough to look generous on the hand and small enough not to overpower a slim band.
Think of it in three parts. The stone: a natural blue sapphire from Ceylon (Sri Lanka), reference AG-000749. The value: a high rate per carat, consistent with our other Ceylon stones. The wear: Mohs 9, so a ring is fine, and cleaning is just warm soapy water and a soft cloth.
At this level, disclosure matters. Heating is a standard step for sapphire, and a stone that skipped it is worth more. We will tell you what we know about this stone if you ask on WhatsApp. A lab report through independent testing is your choice.
Store it apart from softer stones, which it can scratch. In Vedic astrology neelam is linked with Saturn, and many people consult an astrologer before wearing one; we pass that on as tradition.
More choices are in the sapphire category, and our sapphire buying guide covers what to look for.
When the parcel arrives, examine the sapphire in daylight before paying the rider. Karachi usually 1–2 working days, other cities 2–4, and unused stones can be returned within 7 days.
This particular stone
This listing is one natural sapphire, known in Urdu as Neelam, with a weight of 2.1 Carat. Its price is Rs. 78,750 — roughly Rs. 37,500 for each carat. Origin: Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Treatment: treatment not tested. Quote reference AG-000749 when you message us about it. The photographs show this exact stone, so what arrives at your door is the piece you chose on screen.
Between two and six carats is the range most people choose for a gents' ring or a noticeable pendant. Here colour drives the price more than size does, which is why two stones of near-identical weight can be priced very differently.
On the Mohs scale sapphire rates 9. Few materials will scratch it, so it copes well with everyday ring wear. A soak in warm water with a drop of mild soap and a soft brush keeps it bright; skip the ultrasonic cleaner if inclusions reach the surface.
Whoever you buy sapphire from, make sure of three things: the stone is natural rather than lab-grown, glass or glass-filled; any treatment is stated in writing; and the weight quoted is the weight of the finished stone. We check every sapphire for those three points before it is listed, and because you pay on delivery you can look at the stone — or have it tested — before any money changes hands.
