About this stone
Everything we know about it
Description
It is easy to underestimate a small stone like this 3.60 carat moh-e-najaf. The weight is modest, but it is quartz, hard at 7 on the Mohs scale, and the tiny inclusions inside give it a distinct look when you hold it up to the light.
What exactly is it?
Moh-e-najaf is quartz with fine inclusions, the kind the trade calls rutilated quartz. The name is widely used in Pakistan, and by tradition the stone is associated with Najaf and worn by many for personal or devotional reasons. That is custom, not a claim about effects.
Is it a good ring stone?
For its size, yes. A slim silver band or a ladies' ring suits it well, and the hardness is more than enough for daily wear with ordinary care.
Has it been treated?
Treatment is generally not part of this family, but ask us about this particular piece: message us on WhatsApp quoting AG-MO-0002. Independent lab testing is your choice.
How do I buy it?
Order, and pay Cash on Delivery after checking the stone at your door. Karachi usually takes 1 to 2 working days and other cities 2 to 4, with 7 days to return it unused. More stones are in the moh-e-najaf range. Before you choose, read our moh e najaf guide.
This particular stone
This listing is one natural moh-e-najaf with a weight of 3.6 Carat. Its price is Rs. 1,350 — roughly Rs. 375 for each carat. Treatment: treatment not tested. Quote reference AG-MO-0002 when you message us about it. The photographs show this exact stone, so what arrives at your door is the piece you chose on screen.
Between two and six carats is the range most people choose for a gents' ring or a noticeable pendant. Here colour drives the price more than size does, which is why two stones of near-identical weight can be priced very differently.
On the Mohs scale moh-e-najaf rates 7. It handles daily wear, but a hard knock can still nick an exposed corner, so a protective setting is a sensible choice. Clean it with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and keep it away from abrasive cleaners and high heat.
Whoever you buy moh-e-najaf from, make sure of three things: the stone is natural rather than lab-grown, glass or glass-filled; any treatment is stated in writing; and the weight quoted is the weight of the finished stone. We check every moh-e-najaf for those three points before it is listed, and because you pay on delivery you can look at the stone — or have it tested — before any money changes hands.
