How to judge a moonstone

Start with the sheen: how blue it is, and how widely it spreads across the stone rather than sitting in one patch. Then look at translucency, the polish, and any cracks reaching the edge, because moonstone can split along its internal planes. Body colour is a matter of taste, from white to greyer and warmer tones.
