Gemstone Gifts in Pakistan: Picking a Stone They Will Keep تحفے کے لیے قیمتی پتھر
In short: When choosing a gemstone gift, think of the person first, then the occasion, then the budget. Elders often love a gemstone tasbih, a wife or sister may prefer her birthstone or a favourite colour, and a husband, father or brother usually appreciates the classic silver ring with aqeeq or feroza. A natural stone is a present people hold on to for decades, and often hand down.
A natural gemstone is the kind of present people keep for decades and often pass down. It fits Pakistani occasions well too: birthdays, nikah and walima, Eid, a new job, a graduation or a parent's retirement. This guide helps you match a stone to the person, the moment and your budget, and explains when to order from us in Karachi so it arrives on time.

Traditional belief vs gemmology: anything on this page about luck, protection, planets, healing or religious tradition describes traditional and cultural beliefs — not proven effects, religious rulings or medical advice. A stone's identity, hardness, treatment and origin are gemmology, which a lab can test; the references at the end of the page cover that side.
Begin with who it is for
Your mother or an elder in the family
For many elders, nothing beats a gemstone tasbih, simply because they will pick it up every day. Pearl (Moti), amethyst, aqeeq and Dur-e-Najaf are all well loved. Look at our tasbih collection and the article on which tasbih stone to choose.
Your wife or sister
Her birthstone is a safe and personal pick, and our birthstones by month page lists them all. Or go by colour: find out what she wears most and match it using our colour pages. Emerald, ruby, amethyst and opal are firm favourites.
Your husband, father or brother
In Pakistan the classic gift for a man is a silver ring set with a stone. Aqeeq and Feroza are the usual choices, while Neelam, Yaqoot and Pukhraj suit men who follow astrological tradition. See gemstone ring for men.
A friend or colleague
A smaller loose stone with a story behind it works nicely: an emerald from the Swat region, a peridot from Kohistan, or a stone matched to their sign from our zodiac gemstones pages.
Next, think about the occasion
- Birthdays: the stone for their birth month, or their rashi stone.
- Nikah, walima and anniversaries: read our nikah and wedding gifts guide.
- Ramadan and Eid: tasbih, Eidi and family presents are covered in our Ramadan and Eid gifts guide.
- A new job, exams or a new business: many families give Pukhraj or citrine, which tradition links with success and good fortune. Our confidence and success page explains the beliefs.
- A newborn: a small birthstone, put away until the child is older, makes a thoughtful first gift.
Decide on a budget
A good natural gemstone need not cost a lot. Browse by price: under 5,000 rupees, 5,000 to 20,000, 20,000 to 50,000 or over 50,000. Our post on natural gemstones under 5,000 rupees picks out the best-value stones, and the monthly price guide explains what moves the price of each stone.
A loose stone, a ring or a tasbih?
A loose stone is the safest gift if you are unsure of the person's ring size or taste, since they can have it set in whatever metal and style they like. A ring feels more personal and can be worn straight away. We set the stones we sell in 925 silver to order, so you will need the ring size; see the ring size guide and our stone setting service. A tasbih needs no sizing at all and suits nearly any elder.
When to place your order
Once we confirm an order by phone or WhatsApp, loose stones and ready items leave within 1 working day by insured, tracked courier. In Karachi they usually arrive within 1–2 working days, in Lahore, Islamabad and other major cities within 2–4, and in smaller towns within about 7. For a loose stone, ordering a week or so before the date is wise, and ten days if you live outside the big cities. A ring needs extra making time, which we confirm on WhatsApp, so order earlier again. Couriers get busy before Eid and during the wedding season, so build in a few spare days.
Giving it well
A gemstone means more when the person knows what they are holding. Write a short card with the stone's name in English and Urdu, its weight, and why you picked it: their birth month, a favourite colour, or the occasion itself. If you asked for a certificate, tuck it in. With a loose stone, a line saying it can be set in a ring later helps the recipient decide what to do with it. Our gemstone names in Urdu and English page gives the correct names.
Making sure it is real
A gift that turns out to be glass is worse than no gift. Every stone we sell is natural, each listing has its own photo and weight, and known treatments are declared. A certificate is available on request, and independent lab testing can be arranged; see lab-certified gemstones. With Cash on Delivery the parcel can be opened and checked before paying, and loose stones are covered by our 7-day return policy.
About the beliefs
Many gemstone traditions, from birthstones to Vedic astrology, give stones a meaning. That can make a gift more personal, but they are beliefs many families hold, not a promise of any result.
