Yellow sapphire rings, made to order
Pukhraj Ring Price in Pakistan: What You're Paying For پکھراج کی انگوٹھی کی قیمت
In short: Most of what you pay for a Pukhraj ring is the yellow sapphire; the silver ring is the smaller part. A clean, bright canary to golden yellow is what people want, and pale lemon stones cost less. Clarity counts, price climbs faster than weight, and unheated stones cost more. Watch out for citrine, yellow topaz and glass sold as Pukhraj.
Pukhraj, the yellow sapphire, is the stone a lot of families pick for a son heading to university or starting a new job. Most of a Pukhraj ring's price is the stone; the silver ring is the smaller part. Authentic Gems sells natural yellow sapphires as loose stones, each photographed and priced on its own, and sets yours in a 925 silver ring made to your size.

What sets the price of a Pukhraj ring
1. The yellow sapphire itself
The colour people ask for is a clean, bright canary to golden yellow. Pale lemon stones are cheaper; a strong, even yellow with no brownish tint costs more. Clarity matters more in yellow sapphire than in ruby, because the light colour hides nothing, so an eye-clean Pukhraj is valued highly. Bigger stones get more expensive faster than their weight alone would suggest. Sri Lankan, or Ceylon, Pukhraj has a strong name, though good stones come from other places too.
Most yellow sapphire is heated to improve the colour, and that is fine as long as it's disclosed. Unheated stones cost more. Beryllium-diffused stones, where colour has been driven in with heat, should be far cheaper. In Pakistan, though, the bigger danger is substitution: citrine, yellow topaz and plain glass all get sold as Pukhraj. Read yellow sapphire vs citrine and how to identify original Pukhraj. We only sell natural stones, and we state any treatment we know about.
The table below shows our current loose Pukhraj prices, taken from our own listings and updated every month.
| Weight | Weights | Stones | Per carat | Per ratti |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Under 3 carat | 1.1 – 3.0 ct | 21 | Rs 4,500 – Rs 19,000 | Rs 4,100 – Rs 17,500 |
| 3 – 6 carat | 3.2 – 5.4 ct | 16 | Rs 2,900 – Rs 7,500 | Rs 2,600 – Rs 6,800 |
Prices per ratti
Pukhraj is usually quoted per ratti. The gem ratti is 0.91 carat, while the jeweller's sunari ratti is about 0.61 carat. Ask which one the seller is using, and convert with our carat to ratti converter before you compare. A suspiciously cheap per-ratti price often turns out to be a smaller ratti, a heavily treated stone or a different gem altogether.
2. How much silver
Our rings are 925 sterling silver, priced by weight at the going market rate. A heavier band costs a bit more but holds up better over the years.
3. The design
Yellow sapphire is 9 on the Mohs scale, so it is safe in either claws or a bezel. Claws let more light into a pale stone; a bezel gives a cleaner look many men prefer. Decorative sides mean more work, and more cost.
4. Handmade or cast
A cast ring comes out of a standard mould. A handmade ring is built around your particular stone, which suits deep or oddly cut sapphires.
How Pukhraj is traditionally worn
Vedic astrology gives yellow sapphire to Jupiter, called Guru or Brihaspati. By tradition it goes on the index finger, usually the right hand, set in gold, and is first put on on a Thursday morning. We set in 925 silver, which plenty of people choose; if you want gold, buy the loose stone and have your own jeweller set it. Many families like an open back so the stone touches the skin. These are traditions, not guarantees. Read Pukhraj benefits, how to wear yellow sapphire, and the Sagittarius and Pisces pages.
Comparing two Pukhraj quotes
- Make sure both stones really are yellow sapphire, not citrine or topaz.
- Ask whether each one is heated, unheated or diffused.
- Convert both weights to carats, using the same ratti.
- Look at both in daylight, side by side if possible, for colour and visible inclusions.
- Ask whether either has a lab report, and which lab issued it.
If one stone beats the other on everything except price, there is usually a reason it is cheap.
Ring size
Your index finger is usually a different size from your ring finger, so measure the one you'll actually wear it on. Our ring size guide shows how.
How ordering works
- Choose a stone. Pick from our yellow sapphire listings, each with its own photo, weight and price. If you'd like help, message us your budget and the weight you have in mind on WhatsApp.
- Send your size. Message us the stone's link and your ring size, and tell us which finger it's for.
- We confirm with you. On WhatsApp we send the design, the full price for stone and ring, and how long it will take. Nothing is made until you say yes.
- We set and dispatch. The ring goes by insured, tracked courier. Once it's ready, Karachi usually receives it in 1–2 working days, other major cities in 2–4.
- Pay on delivery. Open the parcel in front of the rider, check the ring, then pay in cash.
Care
Clean the ring with lukewarm water, mild soap and a soft brush, then dry it. Yellow sapphire picks up skin oil, which dulls its glow, so a quick wash every week or two keeps it bright. Store it apart from softer stones, and check the claws every so often.
