Taurus Gemstones: White Sapphire, White Topaz and Opal برج ثور
In short: Taurus, called Vrishabh in Vedic astrology, is ruled by Venus, so its classical stone is diamond (heera). We do not sell diamonds, and instead suggest the accepted alternatives, white sapphire and opal; many buyers also go for white topaz. By tradition, the Venus stone is first worn on a Friday morning, set in silver, white gold or platinum.
Taurus, known as Vrishabh in Vedic astrology, is ruled by Venus, so its classical stone is diamond (heera). Diamonds are not something we sell. Traditional belief vs gemmology: anything on this page about luck, protection, planets, healing or religious tradition describes traditional and cultural beliefs — not proven effects, religious rulings or medical advice. A stone's identity, hardness, treatment and origin are gemmology, which a lab can test; the references at the end of the page cover that side.
The main stone: diamond, or white sapphire in its place
In jyotish, diamond is the principal gem of Venus, or Shukra. We do not sell diamonds, so for Taurus we point people to white sapphire, often called safed pukhraj, which is the substitute most commonly used. It is corundum, the same mineral as blue sapphire, so it is hard and bright. Message us on WhatsApp to ask about white sapphire, and look through our wider sapphire range. Plenty of people also wear white topaz for Venus, a clear stone that is gentler on the budget.
The second stone: opal
Tradition names opal as the other Venus stone, and many Taurus buyers actually prefer it for its dancing colours. Venus is traditionally tied to love, marriage, comfort and the arts. We list Ethiopian opal and Australian opal as separate categories.
How a Venus stone is traditionally worn
- Finger: the middle or ring finger.
- Metal: silver, white gold or platinum.
- Day: put on for the first time on a Friday morning, Venus's day.
Most astrologers keep a Venus stone away from yellow sapphire (pukhraj), while neelam and Venus stones are usually allowed together.
Checks before you buy
- White sapphire, white topaz, glass and synthetics can all look much the same. Ask exactly which one you are getting and whether it is natural.
- With opal, ask whether it is solid or a doublet or triplet, meaning a thin slice glued onto a backing.
- Ethiopian opal can soak up water and turn cloudy for a while, so never leave it soaking.
- Ask the seller to disclose known treatments. Read how we check every stone.
Budget
White topaz mostly falls under the Under 5,000 and 5,000 to 20,000 filters. Opal and white sapphire vary a lot with size and quality, so compare them under 5,000 to 20,000 and 20,000 to 50,000.
Care
White sapphire and white topaz collect grease quickly; a wash in warm soapy water brings them back. Opal is softer, so wipe it clean, protect it from knocks and store it by itself. Our gemstone care guide and white topaz care notes have more.
Buying opal and white topaz from Authentic Gems
We photograph every stone exactly as it is and price it on its own, and we disclose any treatment we know about. A certificate is available if you ask, and we can arrange independent lab testing. You pay Cash on Delivery anywhere in Pakistan, opening the parcel and checking the stone before the rider gets paid. Orders leave us within 1 working day of confirmation, and Karachi deliveries usually arrive in 1–2 working days; our delivery details cover the rest of the country. If your astrologer has asked specifically for white sapphire, tell us the weight and we will be straight with you about what we can offer.
The dates given here are Western sun-sign dates. Vedic practice works differently: your rashi is the sign the Moon occupied at the moment you were born, and it often turns out to be a different sign from your sun sign. Our rashi guide shows you how to work yours out.
