Plenty of DHA households already have a jeweller they trust with gold and design, whether at Zamzama, Bukhari Commercial or a family workshop in the old city. What they want from us is the stone itself: a natural sapphire, ruby, emerald or aquamarine, clearly described, that their jeweller can set. Authentic Gems is a Karachi business, so a parcel to any DHA phase, from Phase 1 near the Korangi Road end to Phase 8 by the sea, usually arrives in 1 to 2 working days by insured, tracked courier, with Cash on Delivery so you see the stone before you pay.

Picking a stone your jeweller can work with

Hardness decides where a stone will be happiest. A ring takes knocks all day; a pendant or a pair of earrings far fewer. A rough guide using the Mohs hardness scale:

Tell us the setting your jeweller has in mind, a bezel, claws or a halo, and we can suggest stones whose shape and depth should sit well in it. Near the sea, silver tarnishes quickly and softer stones dislike salt and sweat, so our gemstone care guide is worth a read once the piece is made.

Gifts for engagements, anniversaries and Eid

A loose natural stone, set to a design of your own, makes a very personal gift. Sapphire and ruby are the classic choice for a ring meant to last decades; aquamarine and tourmaline give generous colour at larger sizes; opal, moonstone and pearl suit softer, modern pieces. Tell us the occasion and budget on WhatsApp and we will send photos and weights of suitable stones from current stock. Because we are across town rather than across the country, there is usually time to get a stone to your jeweller well before the date.

Stones on an astrologer's advice

Many Karachi families wear a stone their astrologer recommends, most often pukhraj for Jupiter or neelam for Saturn. Send us the recommendation, with any carat or ratti weight, and we will suggest natural stones that fit. These are traditions and beliefs, so we describe the stone and do not promise an outcome. What comes with every stone

• One natural stone per listing, photographed as it is, so what arrives is what you saw.
• Its own price. The per-carat rate is the price divided by the carat weight.
• Known treatments disclosed, such as heating of sapphire or oiling of emerald.
• A certificate of authenticity on request, and independent lab testing arranged if you ask. See our authenticity page.

Delivery to DHA

1. Order in the shop, or WhatsApp us what you need and choose from the photos we send.
2. We confirm by phone or WhatsApp and dispatch within 1 working day.
3. The insured, tracked courier delivers to any DHA phase, Khayaban or commercial lane, usually within 1 to 2 working days. We do not do meet-ups.
4. With Cash on Delivery, you open the parcel and check the stone before paying.

Delivery is a flat Rs. 500 per order. If the stone isn't right, return it within 7 days of delivery, unused and in its original packaging, for a refund or an exchange; that also leaves time for an independent check before your jeweller sets it.
