Gemstones in Rawalpindi: Buy, Then Have It Checked

Pindi has traded gemstones for generations, and people here buy with their eyes open. The first thing most Rawalpindi customers ask us is how will I know it's real? Getting a stone verified, step by step

A gem-testing laboratory can tell you what a stone really is: the species, whether it is natural or lab-grown, and whether it has been treated. A sensible way to use one:

1. Receive and look. When the rider arrives, open the parcel and look at the stone before paying. If it is obviously not what you ordered, refuse it.
2. Keep it unused. Don't set or wear it yet. We can only take back stones that are unused and in their original condition and packaging.
3. Take it to an independent lab you trust in the twin cities, or ask us to arrange independent testing.
4. Read the report carefully. A proper report names the species (for instance "natural corundum"), says whether it is natural, and lists any treatment it can detect, such as heating.
5. Decide within 7 days of delivery. Keep the stone, or return it for a refund or an exchange under our return policy.

Urdu trade names, decoded

In Raja Bazaar and around Saddar, stones are mostly sold by their Urdu names. Knowing the English equivalents helps when you read a lab report:

Haggling is the second question

Bazaar prices in Rawalpindi are open to bargaining, so it is tempting to make the price the whole conversation. It isn't. A big discount on a dyed stone is still a poor buy. Before you haggle, get three things in writing: the carat weight, whether the stone is natural, and any treatment. Then work out the per-carat rate. Treat origin names with care too: "Kashmir neelam" or "Burma yaqoot" without a lab report is just sales talk.

Stones an astrologer has prescribed

Plenty of Pindi orders begin with an astrologer's advice: neelam for Saturn, pukhraj for Jupiter, yaqoot for the Sun, moti for the Moon. Delivery and payment in Rawalpindi

Once confirmed, orders leave Karachi within 1 working day and usually arrive in 2 to 4 working days by insured, tracked courier, whether to Saddar, Satellite Town, Bahria Town Phase 7, Chaklala Scheme III, Westridge or Adiala Road. Delivery is a flat Rs. 500 per order, and you pay Cash on Delivery after checking the stone.
