What Larkana wears, and why

Ring stones here are mostly chosen for faith, family custom and astrology, and the same names come up again and again:

• Aqeeq and red agate: modern relatives of Mohenjo-daro's carnelian, worn by many men in silver. The colour should be warm and even, not a flat painted red.
• Marjan (red coral): linked with Mars in Vedic astrology, and often recommended for courage and energy.
• Pukhraj: Jupiter's stone in the same tradition, often chosen around marriage and studies.
• Neelam: the Saturn stone, which astrologers usually advise trying carefully before wearing for good.
• Sulemani aqeeq: the banded black-and-white agate many families treat as a protective stone.

All of these are beliefs and customs. We describe them honestly but cannot promise results, and religious questions are best taken to a scholar you trust.

Checking a stone in Larkana's bazaars

Jewellers in Larkana and the stone sellers around the main bazaar carry plenty of aqeeq and marjan, and both are among the most copied materials in Pakistan. Before you pay anyone:

• Look for dye in the cracks. Dyed agate often shows darker colour collecting along fine fractures, whereas natural colour runs evenly through the stone.
• Study marjan closely. Natural coral shows fine parallel grain lines. Plastic and glass copies look too smooth and too uniform.
• Weigh in carats or standard ratti. The gem ratti is 0.91 carat; the goldsmith's sunari ratti is about 0.61 carat. A quote that doesn't say which ratti cannot be compared. Our carat to ratti converter helps.
• Ask about treatment in plain words. If the seller won't say, assume the stone has been treated.

Delivery to Larkana and nearby towns

After confirmation, orders leave Karachi within 1 working day by insured, tracked courier and usually reach Larkana in 2 to 4 working days. We deliver across the city and to Kambar, Shahdadkot, Ratodero, Naudero, Dokri, Bakrani and Warah, and on to Jacobabad and Mehar, where smaller places can take up to about 7 working days. You receive a tracking number as soon as the parcel is collected. Cash on Delivery and inspection

With Cash on Delivery nothing is paid in advance. When the rider arrives, open the parcel, compare the stone with the photos on its listing, and only then hand over the money. Every listing is one stone, photographed and priced on its own. If you would rather talk first, send us your budget or the stone your astrologer named on WhatsApp, and we will reply with photos and weights of suitable stones. Certificates and returns

Every stone we sell is natural, with known treatments disclosed. A certificate is available on request and independent lab testing can be arranged; see the authenticity page. If the stone doesn't suit you, you have 7 days from delivery to return it unused for a refund or an exchange under our return policy.
